I downloaded the first book free and after reading it, I was hooked. I immediately purchased the series and completed in a few days and I am now hanging on by a thread for the next book. The books are great and well written. The books have some humor, personal struggles and the murder mystery with a fight for justice. To top it off there is a smidgen of romance kept in the wings to keep you hoping Jack and Replacement (Alice) take that last step. I read a book every few days and I can tell you Christopher Greyson is now one of my favorite authors.
Like many readers, in the past, I tended to concentrate on the very well known authors such as Anderson, Baldacci , Clancy, Grisham, etc. I still like their books but the Kindle books opened up a whole new captivating and interesting reading adventure with newer, to me, authors and characters!!The jack Stratton series exemplifies the type of stories I like best. It has action, intrigue, suspense, book continuity and personal relationships which are captivating. Of some of these series mentioned below which also fit this style, IT IS THE ONE WHICH LEFT ME FEELING REALLY SAD THAT THE NEXT BOOK IN THE SERIES WASN'T AVAILABLE!!!Rose Gardner mysteries, Savannah Martin mysteries, Kate McCall mysteries, Justice SeekersLacy Steele mysteries
So glad I purchased these mystery thrillers. Excellent writing, no typos, editing was great. Of all the books I have read these bookswere my absolute favorites on so many different levels.I am now about to read Data Jack. Awesome series of books!!!
First, let me admit that I read all of the books in this series, so that at least gives it four stars for entertainment value, but some of the characters were so poorly drawn that I found it distracting. Murphy's characterization was bad. His response during a time of danger was not believable. Replacement (his preferred name for a character named Alice) was all over the place. At one stage a love-struck adolescent, at another a confident entrepreneur. And Jack, the main character, was too good to be true. Everyone joins in the chorus of saying how he is such a good man.But even with these character issues the books are very readable and entertaining.
After completing book two in the Dean Koontz “Jane Hawk “ series, I was in serious need of a mystery/thriller fix and embarked upon a search to find another author to bridge the gap until Koontz’s book three is released next May. Not only does Chris Greyson’s “Detective Jack Stratton†series fit the bill, but easily merits its own spotlight and devoted readership.I decided to approach the collection as if it were one long text and was rewarded with characters who were unique and who were developed thoughtfully and creatively. Plot lines and prose remind me of another great author, Paul Doherty. My hope is that Greyson is as prolific a writer as Doherty; keep the books coming!I’m happy to report that my insomnia has returned— in a good way. Long into the night, at chapter’s end, I fail to turn out the light. Instead, I turn the page and begin to discover...â€what is next.â€
These book are really enjoyable reads. I read them one after the other ( I had some downtime due to a surgery) and found the characters well developed and realistic. I live with geeks and cops, in the family, so the personalities rang true. The plots are interesting and not too gory. No loose threads or hanging plot lines. I am looking forward to a continuations of these characters and their lives.
The detective/mystery parts of this series are certainly good enough. The writing is not Michael Connelly level, but for the price I'm not complaining. The only thing that drives me nuts is the relationship between Jack and Replacement. It reads more like a teen romance than an adult drama. How many more misunderstood actions and partially heard conversations can we endure. Move along.
Great fun - had to buy and read the entire series. I really enjoy the main characters, but I have same complaint as I have with the Janey Evanovich series. These characters are in a shady business - why don't they take some self-defense or martial arts classes instead of getting beat up all the time? Their were also some technical improbabilities that bothered me and the dog needs to be much more involved, for sure, and not just destroying things. Hopefully that is coming.
