As usual, Cooner's book is full of larger-than-life, relatable characters. I fall under her spell every time I read one of her books. The conflict with the social media app, Worthy, adds a striking, compelling commentary on social media and how it changes us that will certainly resound with teen and adult readers alike. We also get to see some old friends from past Cooner books, which rounds out the setting even more and makes me feel like I'm coming home.
I loved the way this book deftly weaves themes of online bullying, empowerment and romance. Donna Cooner's Texas characters leap off the page in ways that are real, funny and swoon-worthy.
I love this book! Cooner thoughtfully addressed the critical issue of cyber-bullying, honestly portraying the massive impact of cyber-bullying in today's society. My favorite part of Cooner's books is that the characters from past books show up in secondary roles, portrayed from a completely different perspective. It's like unexpectedly having a friend from your past show up to visit. It makes me wat tto go back and reread all of her books every time!!
Interesting story, but I was a bit put off by Linden's uber vacillation. I also have to question the whole issue of the Worthy app having a download link from what I took to be a school run website/chat board. Would that be possible in the real world?
Loved the book! My second favorite of the author's books. Really enjoy the characters and how well the author relates to teens today. Looking forward to her next book.
